The 46th Project Holders Orientation Camp has been successfully held on 13th and 14th of April. We are glad to see all the participants enjoying the camp and we hope that they can deepen their understanding of JSSE.
小學生工作坊已於三月十六日香港科學館成功舉行。相信各位參賽者都能寓學習於娛樂，初步了解科學。詳情可點擊以下相片。 On the 16th of March, 2013, students arrived at the Hong Kong Science Museum to attend the Primary School Workshop. We are sure the students not only gained valuable scientific knowledge, but an unforgettable, enjoyable experience whilst playing with science. For more details please see the photos below.
In March, GAD will hold a Walkathon as the fund raising activity of this year. A number of checkpoints will be placed throughout the whole walk. The activities of the checkpoints could be related to science. A story will be introduced to the participants before the start of the walk, hints regarding the story will be given to the participants after finishing the checkpoints.
Details of Proposal Supervising Scheme and Proposal Interviewing Scheme were announced in the seminar. Project Holders of the 45th JSSE were invited to share their valuable experiences with our 46th JSSE Project Holders.
The 「多元科學創新天 繪出美好大自然」 Colouring Competition has started in January 2013 and we aim to let primary school students learn more about science while arousing their interest towards the natural world.
All participants are asked to fill in the application form, finish their artworks and submit them on or before 25th February 2013 to P.O.Box No.91975 Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Hong Kong.
We are presenting Champion, First runner-up, Second runner-up and 15 Merits to participants. Other than that, the school having the biggest number of participants will receive the ‘Most Active Participating School’ award.
Joint School Science Exhibition was introduced to the project holders. Moreover, they were reminded of Proposal Competition Guidelines in the seminar. We also invited Professor Ho Wing Shing, Associate Professor (School of Live Sciences) to give a speech on ‘Exploration of self-defense mechanism in organisms’. The seminar ended with a sharing session by the 45th Joint School Science Exhibition Champion.
On 2nd December 2012, we held a barbeque gathering at Shek O beach so as to foster the relationships between the current members of JSSEPC and alumni. We had around 25 participants and had an enjoyable time in the gathering. We shared stories and experiences and gained a treasurable opportunity to get to know more about each other. After the barbeque, we played mass games together at the beach and everyone enjoyed themselves. The gathering ended with exhaustion but happiness. It was a truly fantastic experience and these fragments of memory will unite us together.
The 1st General Meeting was held in November in order to increase the efficiency of the working process for the preparation committee and to let the departments cooperate smoothly.
The 1st General Meeting was held at Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College on 10th November 2012. The meeting started with a speech given by the chairperson, followed by the introduction of the theme, “Nature”. There were voting sessions to adopt the slogans and logo of this year. The selected slogans are ''Nature Inspiration Science Exploration” and “靈感始於自然 創意科學無邊”. Department directors then delivered their year plans and the departments were formed successfully by allocation of the PC into their respective departments.
